The Wells Criteria is a widely used clinical tool to assess the pre-test probability of Pulmonary Embolism (PE). It helps determine the likelihood of PE based on a set of clinical criteria. Below is an HTML form for a Wells Criteria Calculator.

The Wells Criteria assigns points based on the following factors:

  1. Clinical signs and symptoms of DVT (e.g., leg swelling, pain with palpation): 3 points

  2. PE is the most likely diagnosis: 3 points

  3. Heart rate >100 bpm: 1.5 points

  4. Immobilization (≥3 days) or surgery in the past 4 weeks: 1.5 points

  5. Previous DVT/PE: 1.5 points

  6. Hemoptysis (coughing up blood): 1 point

  7. Malignancy (active or treated within the last 6 months): 1 point

The total score is used to classify patients into lowmoderate, or high probability of PE.
