Revised Cardiac Risk Index (RCRI)
The RCRI assesses the risk of major cardiac complications (e.g., myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, pulmonary edema) based on six risk factors:
High-risk surgery (e.g., intraperitoneal, intrathoracic, or suprainguinal vascular surgery)
History of ischemic heart disease
History of congestive heart failure
History of cerebrovascular disease
Diabetes mellitus requiring insulin therapy
Preoperative serum creatinine >2.0 mg/dL
Each risk factor is assigned 1 point. The total score correlates with the risk of major cardiac complications.
Perioperative Cardiac Risk Assessment (RCRI)
RCRI Score Interpretation:
RCRI Score | Risk of Major Cardiac Complications |
---|---|
0 | 0.4% |
1 | 0.9% |
2 | 6.6% |
≥3 | 11.0% |
