The Iraqi Hypertension Society held a scientific meeting under the heading ” Advances in Cardiovascular Therapy: Exploring ” in the Baron Hotel, Karbala, 11. April 2025 presented by two Interventional cardiologists Dr Ahmed Qassim Alhaidari and Dr Mohammed Wehody Shuailah and moderated by Prof. Ghazi Haji and Prof. Abdulkareem Albafiyi.
Dr Alhaidari gave an overview on atrial fibrillation, discussed its types, clinical presentation and recent advances in its management especially the role of NAOC in the prevention of thromboembolic complication compared with warfarin and the pros and cons of each medication, while Dr Shuailah discussed types of beta blockers and recent classifications with the special focus on nebivolol with its unique features as beta and alpha receptors blocker beside its nitric oxide releasing capability..
The ceremony was ended by honoring some senior doctors and the first-ranking student in the Echocardiography diploma..
