Eye on the Clot: VTE challenges in medically ill patients

On Friday, July 20, the Iraqi Hypertension Society held a scientific symposium entitled ” Eye on the Clot: VTE challenges in medically ill patients” at the Babylon Hotel, sponsored by the Albanaa Scientific Bureau, from Sanofi Pharmaceutical in Iraq. Three distinguished speakers covered this meeting. The first presentation was presented by Prof. Mohammed Wahib, a consultant chest physician, and entitled ” VTE management in medically ill patients,” who discussed the prevalence, causes, types, and pathophysiology of DVT and its management from prophylaxis to actual treatment. Prof. Ghazi Haji, presented a summary on the use of anticoagulants in ACS and the role of enoxaparin in its management, while Dr. Munawar Al-Naqqash, a consultant oncologist, presented a summary on the prevalence of DVT in cancer patients, and how to manage complicated cases of DVT and bleeding and the how to chose the best options available. The symposium was attended by a large gathering of doctors and pharmacists and was well received by all.
