The Iraqi Hypertension Society celebrated World Heart Day

The Iraqi Hypertension Society celebrated World Heart Day On Friday, September 26th through three events, the first on Al- Mutanabbi Street in Baghdad Cultural Center. where a workshop was held in which Dr. Jassim Al-Azzawi, an internal medicine and echocardiology specialist, gave a lecture on the heart and how it works, with a historical and linguistic overview of the heart and its uses in language, while touching on the most prominent cardiologists and their discoveries in this regard. The lecture was beautiful and enjoyable, and had wonderful touches.Dr. Hussein Mahbas, a pediatrician, gave a lecture on heart diseases in children and how to diagnose them while Dr. Raja Mohammed, a pharmacist, gave a lecture on heart diseases, focusing on high blood pressure and healthy ways to measure it, while offering advice on how the patient’s use of medications related to hypertension and heart diseases and how to adhere to them.In conclusion, Dr. Samir Majeed, a member of IqHS, gave a brief explanation of the latest developments in hypertension and the societies role in controlling it.Finally, the blood pressure of some of the attendees was measured and important advice was given to them. The workshop was attended by many media agencies and TV stations, along with many doctors, pharmacists, and a group of AL- Mutanabbi followers.
On the same day, the IqHs held a scientific symposium in the hall of Al-Karm Palace, in cooperation with Abdi-Ibrahim Pharmaceutical Company, on the occasion of World Heart Day. Two lectures were given, the first by Dr. Ghazi Haji, entitled “Dyslipidemia: Gap Between Reality and Evidence” and the second by Dr. Haider Al-Araji, a cardiologist at Ibn Al-Nafis Hospital, about beta blockers and the unique features of some of them. The session was moderated by Professor Hassan Al Farhan, Consultant Cardiologist and Chair of the Cardiology Board and Professor Amin Al-Alwani, Rhythmologist and Dean of the College of Medicine, Baghdad University.
The third activity was through a Medical Symposium entitled ” Cardiometabolic Expert Talk Show” which was held in World Heat Hotel, in which expert cardiology and neurology panelists presented multiple lectures on important heart diseases, discussing the latest hypertension and dyslipidemia guidelines, acute coronary syndrome in addition to special talk on stroke management. It was a tough day !!
