As part of its continuous effort to disseminate sound medical knowledge both for the public and the health providers, the Iraqi Hypertension Society held two occasions on the last Friday, July 24, 2026, the first one was at the ‘Ali Al-Wardi’ Hall which hosted a specialized awareness workshop organized by the Pharmacists Syndicate and the Iraqi Hypertension Society, in cooperation with the Baghdad Cultural Center. The session was managed by pharmaceutical specialist Rajaa Muhammad Ali and was titled ‘Raising Awareness on the Latest Developments Related to Hypertension Disease.’ and followed by a brief but comprehensive commentary from Dr Jasim Alazzawy, Internists and former Head of the Iraqi Medical Association. The event was attended by a group of health enthusiasts and local community members and IqHS representative Dr Samer Yousaf, as part of an effort to promote health and preventive culture against one of the most widespread diseases nowadays.
The workshop saw a lot of interaction from the attendees, who enriched the session with various questions and inquiries about specific cases. They also engaged with the practical exercises led by the lecturer on how to measure blood pressure correctly, use home devices accurately, and understand which readings require an immediate visit to the doctor, giving the workshop a useful hands-on feel.

At the end of the workshop, pharmacist Rajaa Mohamed Ali emphasized the importance of spreading health awareness in the community, praising the attendees’ interaction and interest. She pointed out that managing high blood pressure isn’t just about medication; it requires a comprehensive lifestyle change and a real understanding of the risks. This is exactly what these workshops aim to achieve through health education based on accurate information.

At the evening of the same day and at the World Heart Hotel, the IqHS held a joint symposium entitled “MEN’S HEALTH SYMPOSIUM” with Iraqi Urology Association and Iraqi Diabetes & Endocrinology association
In Collaboration With AL-Mamorah Scientific Bureau chaired by Professor
Dr.Ghazi Farhan Haji, President of Iraqi Hypertension Society and Professor Dr.Nibras Alhamadani, Consultant Urologist and the President of Iraqi Urological Association. Three lectures were presented, the first one about recent updates in erectile dysfunction by Professor Dr.Ammar Fadil Abid, Consultant Urologist, the second one about recent updates in managements of hypertension and heart failure by Dr. Muhammed Muttar Alwasity, Interventional Cardiologist and director of Ibn Alnafees hospital and the third one about modern management of hyperlipidemia with statins and emerging therapies by Dr. Osama Abbas Almussawi an endocrinologist and head of the diabetes & endocrinology department at Diabetes and Endocrinology Center. The session was attended by large number of different medical specialties and witnessed practical discussion that enriched the attendees knowledge.
